What are some good LCD monitors that run around $500 or so and can be used with a Mac (either through DVI or ADC)?
I'm looking for an active LCD with a 17" screen that can display 1280x1024. What's a cheap one that won't fry on me in a year?
well, apples monitors have been the best out there for quite awhile... so I would either go with that, or look at formac.com
prices are high, but you might be able to find one used.. like a used 15 inch apple monitor.
oh, and I don't really understand all the dvi adc stuff... its way to confusing, and it might make you spend an extra 150 bucks for a converter if you screw it up...

I'm thinking I might just say to hell with it and get a 21" monitor. Having all that real estate would be nice, especially if I use my second monitor at a high resolution too (1600x1200 + 1152x864 > *)

I think I'll just get a good 21" monitor and not worry about everything being all nice and thin.
I'll need a pretty good one, especially if I'm using it at a really high resolution (>1600x1200) in order to see lots of audio data at a time.

i don't remember hearing anything about that one offhand, but i think that tom's hardware did a 20+ inch monitor review so there is something there. cnet might has something as well.

not the newest ones, they work out pretty well

Right now I would still say go for a big normal monitor then a smaller flat LCD. For gaming anyways.
